Texas House Dist. 49 (Austin)

We need creative solutions to lower costs for everyone. Gas, groceries, healthcare, utilities, transportation, and housing costs are stretching household budgets in Texas to the breaking point.

Republicans need to be called out by name again and again and again… and the results of their disastrous policies pinned on them everywhere they go. Send me to the State House to go on offense.

For more than 20 years,  I’ve been working behind the scenes in Texas politics, gaining experience and learning how to lead a bold movement, shift public opinion in Texas, and transform our state. Help me raise a ruckus that can’t be ignored.  

With Rep. Gina Hinojosa leaving the Texas House to run for governor, it’s imperative to replace her with someone who will follow in her footsteps — someone who is experienced and ready to lead Texas into the future, not follow Republicans off a cliff.

After more than 20 years behind the scenes as a grassroots organizer, political strategist, and precinct chair, I received a Commendation from the State Legislature. The greater honor was being recommended for it by District 49’s current Rep. Gina Hinojosa. I’m so very grateful to her for inspiring me to step out from behind the curtain and run for office.

District 49 is what people refer to as a “safely blue.” And to me that comes with a responsibility. Do we want an establishment elite to represent Austin? As we face the Democratic Primary,  let’s raise the bar and elect a native Austinite with the experience, working class progressive values, and the Texas audacity to raise a ruckus that can’t be ignored.

A large part of my agenda will be helping our Party do a better job making our case to the people of Texas all year ‘round, not just when we’re asking for votes. It’s the ABCs of political success: always be campaigning.

In this election, Austin has a choice. Choose a leader with an understanding of how to build, organize, and mobilize for the future. Democrats need a reformation — a change in our way of working, communicating, and strategizing to win. Electing Democrats like me is the first step…
